I have had the great pleasure to work with Claudio Danuser, coaching his ensemble, 'Ars Vocalis' on the occasion of the inaugural choral master class weekend at the 'Künstlerhaus Boswil', in September 2013. Claudio is not only a fine singer, but he has tremendous skill in getting the best from his ensemble by giving clear direction and strong leadership, whilst conducting sensitively and concentrating on achieving both excellent sound and good presentation. His willingness to listen to feedback and his ability to implement it, is rare amongst choral conductors and I was hugely impressed with the achievements of his choir throughout the weekend.

When he accepted the post of conductor of the Konzertchor Richterswil (Richterswil Concert Choir) in 2002 and of the Swissair Voices two years later, Claudio Danuser returned to an aspect of his passion for music that he had halted eighteen years before, in order to devote himself to singing.
In January 2012, Claudio Danuser was appointed chorus director of the newly founded opera festival LA PERLA, which will perform Verdi's Aïda on the lakeside stage of Pfäffikon (Canton Zurich) in the summer of 2013.
Already at high school, Claudio Danuser practised the art of imparting his musical enthusiasm to others. He founded a school orchestra that also performed his own compositions. He later pursued the same goal at university, with an orchestra composed of students and amateurs of all ages. He acquired the necessary conducting technique from the then chief conductor of the Berne City Theatre. He also received a comprehensive training as a choral conductor during his studies in music education, and from 1981 to 1984 he conducted the choir of the Reformed Church of Berne-Wabern.
During his 18 years of ‘abstinence’ from conducting, Claudio Danuser was able to use his position as a singer on the stage to observe the art of conducting of great musicians such as Nello Santi, Ralf Weikert and Christian Thielemann.
Danuser participated in several master classes with orchestra in order to refresh his orchestral conducting. He regularly conducts orchestral concerts of the operatic repertoire together with the Richterswil Concert Choir.
