Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore, 1. August 2017
After the Ambassador's address, renowned Swiss singer Claudio Danuser took to the stage and performed a powerful and moving rendition of the Swiss national anthem. The rapt audience hung on every note, and not a squirrel or lizard stirred in the jungle as Claudio's magnificent voice filled the air. (Swiss Club Magazine, September 2017)

For more than 25 years, Claudio Danuser has been active internationally as a singer in both opera and the concert hall. It was the voices of singers such as Mario Del Monaco, Franco Corelli, Ettore Bastianini and Piero Cappuccilli that ‘infected’ him with the singing virus when he was 15 years old, and who provided him with the aesthetic foundation for the development of his own voice and singing. It was thus also clear to him, after initial studies in Switzerland, that he would study in the homeland of opera. Several teachers in Italy, then above all his collaboration with Nello Santi, allowed him access to the secrets of the old Italian singing traditions.

Besides his first love – Italian and French opera – Claudio Danuser also takes pleasure in a commitment to the music of our time, primarily on purely musical grounds rather than for vocal reasons. He has thus far taken part in eight world premières of operas or cantatas of our time, and has performed numerous significant works from the 20th-century repertoire.

Claudio Danuser has performed in the opera houses and theatres of Berne, Bienne, Geneva, Zurich, Genoa, Modena, with the Opera Factory London/Zurich and at the festivals of Avenches, Macerata and Montepulciano, at the Gstaad Alpengala and in the Zurich June Festival, with conductors such as Nello Santi, Christian Thielemann, Silvio Varviso and Ralf Weikert.

In addition to the traditional vocal repertoire, Claudio Danuser has prepared a programme exclusively with Swiss works from all four linguistic regions, with which he regularly travels as a musical ambassador of Switzerland to the most distant parts of the world.

On his search for new forms of propagating classical singing, he developed the so-called Tavolata musicale together with the renowned Zurich restaurant chain Bindella, and he also founded the vocal ensemble from the Canton of the Grisons Ils Trais Baritons Grischuns.
