Studies and first conducting experiences (1978-84)

Training as a choral conductor as part of his music education studies (‘School music II’) with Anton Knüsel at the Berne Conservatory; choral conducting internship at the Berne-Neufeld Grammar School (with Adolf Burkhard)

Private conducting lessons with the First Kapellmeister of the Berne City Theatre, Dr h.c. Ewald Körner

Conducted a student orchestra (with 40 musicians), including performances of own compositions

Various compositions (including a symphonic poem entitled Werden-Sein-Vergehen after Segantini’s triptych), which he discussed with the well-known composers and composing teachers Sándor Veress (Berne) and Klaus Huber (Freiburg im Breisgau).

Conductor of the choir of the Reformed Church of Berne-Wabern (1982-84)

After 1984, Danuser interrupted his conducting activities in order to pursue his career as a singer. However, as a singer he was able to observe from the performer’s perspective the art of renowned conductors such as Nello Santi, Ralf Weikert and Christian Thielemann.

 

Conductor / Choral director from 2002 onwards

Conducting courses with orchestra, led by Ralf Weikert (Lucerne Music Academy) and Liutauras Balciunas (Mammern Master Classes)

In 2002, he took on the musical direction of the Sängerverein Richterswil (with 50 singers) and the Konzertchor Richterswil (comprising the combined choirs of the Sängerverein and the Richterswil Women’s Chorus, totalling 120 singers). With them, he conducts large-scale operatic concerts with symphony orchestra (with the North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra of Miskolc) in 2004, 2008 and 2012.

In 2004, Danuser took on the musical direction of the mixed choir Swissair Voices (with 50 singers). He has undertaken various musical projects with them, both with orchestra and a cappella (also on occasion together with the Konzertchor Richterswil and in the Monastery Church of Einsiedeln). He has also gone on occasional concert tours abroad with them.
