Claudio Danuser, a Zurich based Swiss musician, has been active for over 30 years a singer, conductor and musicologist/music mediator. After his voice studies in Italy and his début as an opera singer at the Montepulciano Opera Festival in 1986 he embarked on an international career as singer. In 2002 he changed his focus to conducting and took over the direction of the concert choir Richterswil/Zurich. Today he is the musical director of the four choirs Belcantochor Männedorf-Uetikon, Cantalopera, Sängerverein/Konzertchor Richterswil, Swissair Voices and is the conductor of the Rämibühl Orchestra as well as a guest conductor of the Zürcher Symphoniker. As a musicologist (Master of the University in Bern) he has been working for the cultural Foundation of the Migros Company ('cultural percentage') from 1988 till 2018 writing the programs for the symphonic concerts and producing CDs for the label Musiques Suisses. Starting in 2019 he became the record label manager of Musiques Suisses for Naxos International Ldt. As a music mediator he regularly gives lectures and teaches music classes at the Literargymnasium Rämibühl and Volkshochschule Zürich. Since 2020 he has been the artistic director of the opera festival Opera Engiadina.
